Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the goal of the Come Home to Great Care Campaign?

This $5 million campaign has been launched to support the redevelopment of the new and expanded Grove Nursing Home and to help purchase life-saving medical equipment and technology for the hospital.

2. Why are we building a new Grove?

With more than 2,000 Arnprior residents over the age of 65 years, it has become increasingly difficult for many people living in the Arnprior area to find nearby long-term care.

The new, modern and expanded Grove Nursing Home will meet this need and transform seniors’ care in our community .

Specifically, it will increase capacity from 60 to 96 residents, facilitate leading care practices in caring for residents with dementia, enhance privacy, and create a fresh, bright community-style of living that will transform the residents’ day-to-day live.

3. What will happen to the existing Grove facility?

The current Grove structure will be repurposed into something quite special — a Seniors’ Village, an innovative concept that offers an array of supportive services and programs for all seniors and the community at large.  Planning for The Seniors’ Village is currently underway.

4. Is the provincial government contributing to the cost of construction? How is the cost broken down?

Yes. The total cost of the redevelopment project is estimated to be $29.2 million. $25.2 million will be borrowed by ARH and repaid through the construction funding subsidy from the Ministry of Health and ARH operating funds. In addition, we are in our final push to meet our commitment of raising a crucial $4-million for the project.

5. When will construction on the new Grove begin?

Construction has begun and is on schedule to be completed by July 2021. Residents and staff will move into the new home by fall 2021.

6. Why must we raise money for hospital medical equipment?

As part of the Campaign, $1m is needed to help purchase new medical equipment and technology for the hospital. In Ontario, a hospital’s medical equipment expenditures are exclusively — 100 per cent — funded by its community. The province funding is for the hospital’s operating costs, such as supplies and staffing. The Arnprior Regional Health Foundation is committed to working with the community to ensure we have the best life-saving medical technology available locally.

7. Who can contribute to the Campaign?

The Campaign is only possible because of the generosity of our community. Donations are gratefully welcomed from individuals, families, businesses, financial institutions, charitable foundations, service clubs, the general community, and members of the Arnprior Regional Health family (medical staff, board members, employees and volunteers). Our Foundation Team is available to speak with you about the ways to give that best meet individual circumstances and giving objectives.

8. Why should I consider a five-year pledge?

Extending a gift over a five-year period allows you to make a contribution to the Campaign at a comfortable level of giving while ensuring that we have the funds in place to make each phase of the project happen on schedule.

9. Will my gift qualify as a charitable donation for income tax purposes?

Yes. All donors of gifts over $20 will be issued an official tax receipt, which can be used when completing income tax returns. However, based on CRA regulations, we cannot issue a charitable tax receipt when there is formal gift recognition through naming rights.

10. Can I gift securities to the campaign?

Yes. Gifts of Securities include publicly-traded securities (stocks, bonds or mutual funds) and private company shares.

11. How much of my gift goes directly to the project?

100% of your gift goes directly to the Campaign. Other costs associated with the Campaign are being covered through a separately funded budget.

12. I work for a local company - what can my company do to help?

Payroll deduction is an excellent way to support the Campaign, enabling you to make a larger gift over time. These donations qualify for a tax receipt. You may also wish to host a fundraising event at your place of work. Please contact the Arnprior Regional Health Foundation, as they can advise you on ideas.

13. Will you acknowledge my gift?

The Arnprior Regional Health Foundation offers a number of dedicated naming opportunities at various giving levels to acknowledge major commitments made to the Campaign. However, based on CRA regulations, we cannot issue a charitable tax receipt when there is formal gift recognition through naming rights./p>
